Tampopo Corn Exchange – New Sound System

Tampopo sound system

Kitchen sound in Tampopo

The refurbishment of Tampopo at the Corn Exchange in Manchester was a fantastic project to work on.

After consultation with David Fox of Tampopo, we designed the background music system to have four zones. These were split into three zones in the dining area and to keep the chefs happy, one zone in the kitchen.

Restaurant volume levels are adjusted by remote volume controls behind the bar with a separate control for the kitchen.

We supplied and installed 14 x Apart Mask 4BT’s in the restaurant with 2 x Apart Sub165s for bass, the kitchen has 4 x Apart CM20 ceiling speakers. Control is by a Cloud electronics Z4 MkII mixer, system is powered by a Cloud electronics CXV425 4 channel 100v power amplifier.

The toilets have a separate system comprising of an Apart Concept 1 amplifier and Apart Mask 4 speakers, the loo system continously plays a loop of the background sound in Bangkok Airport.

Volta, Didsbury – background music system

Jo vOLTA SOUND SYSTEM

As part of their expansion plans, VOLTA called on us to install a background music system in their newly refurbished upstairs room.

The owners who also own ELEKTRIK bar in Chorlton like to do this different, this is the same when it comes to their audio installations.

Keeping the retro feel in the front room, we installed the owner provided Mordaunt Short “Paegent” hifi speakers and to blend in the smaller room we opted for a pair of Apart Mask 4’s.

The whole system is powered by an Apart Concept 1 two zone amplifier with remote, volume levels are limited to protect the installation and to avoid any potential noise complaints.

Future plans are to distribute the audio from downstairs across two floors.
